Web Projects

I invite you to take a look at the website's I've built. Each of these sites below was designed by Knight Technology Solutions. Details about each site follow the title.

TMLP

natureThrough My Lens Photography is a business run by Seth Fisher. His website needed to not only show off his incredible talents through a portfolio section, he also needed to run an ecommerce site that featured his artistic prints and notecards. Finding the perfect combination that allowed the maximum potential while handling both tasks was a monumental task that spanned several years. The website went from version to version, becoming a little bit better each time, until now. I believe the current site is the culmination of what he was trying to achive: Easy to navigate, pleasing to browse, running a stable shopping cart, and providing a large portfolio section. The design makes extensive use of CSS3 effects, the most prominent of which are the shadows on the outside of the page, as well as the inside. The site itself is run on Joomla 2.5 - my CMS of choice.

Women Working 4 Women

ww4wss1This site was designed to support a small organization dedicated to creating a conference and support system for home-based direct sales opportunities. It included a member directory, conference registration, and a blog. The site was built using MODx, a powerful framework capable of highly advanced sites, while at the same time maintaining a simplicity that provides easy templating.

Organized Times

otss1The Organized Times was designed to be a encourging, information site designed to help people get their lives in order. It is run by the very talented Florence Feldman. The inspiration for the site design came mostly from the name of the domain. The Organized Times is intended to resemble a newspaper, with the Gothic Style font title, and the simple, easy-to-read black text on a white page.

Causey Racing

Causeyracing screenshotThe design of Causey Racing was inspired by the previous layout. Composed in Dreamweaver, and rendered uneditable by anyone except someone proficient in HTML. The side columns were added as the owners wanted to 'spruce' up the single column layout. The menu text is rendered into a custom non-web font using the Cufon font replacement system, and the glow around the outsides is done using CSS3 effects.

CBX Modulars

CBX ScreenshotThe original site contained much the same content os the site does now, but it was coded using dreamweaver, and did not provide an easy way to edit the contents. The site was converted to Joomla, and all existing content was imported so it could be edited easily.

Mini Acre Farm

MiniAcreFarmSSIn addition to being a wonderful photographer, my brother Seth grows fresh-cut herbs which he sells to restaurants in the area. He needed an online venue with which to showcase his herbs. I designed the logo, and built the site using MODx. The colors were picked to reflect earth tones and green leaves.

James River Journal

JRJ dcreenshot entertainment July 152011When I came on board with the James River Journal, the current site was built using Wordpress. Due to a large quantity of articles, wordpress was starting to choke. I transitioned the whole site to Joomla, and incorporated a new template that brings a 'Newspaper' interface. The logo was designed to mimic the traditional newspaper title. Some simple CSS3 effects were used to give the illusion of a 'page', and new colors were chosen to improve readability.

Drury Lane Farm

Drury Lane Farm 2011-09-03 17-52-58Drury Lane Farm is a small farm producing chickens, eggs, pork, and other products for local co-ops and Farmers Markets. This site was built in wordpress to take advantage of the blogging capabilities. The design was intended to give an 'Old-Fashioned' feeling, akin to browsing the pages of an old Almanac.

Sea Glass Art

SGASS1As a very small, home-based art business, Sea Glass Art didn't need a very advanced site. Keeping the colors to a simple pastel range and using whimsical art that matches the product, keeps this site's focus on one thing: the framed sea glass art creations. The site design was copied from the previous version, with small enhancements made to text size and colors. The site was built using MODx, and contained an integrated Paypal based shopping cart.

Twisted Botz

twistedbotzA local FIRST robotics team, team 177, need a site to showcase the team, and also help them gather much needed sponsorships. The design was built using MODx, with a simple blog, information pages and multimedia presentation. Colors were picked by the team, with the bright green featured, but not overwhelming.
